Following on from an interview I did back in the winter between Christmas and the New Year I was further surprised by being asked if I would come on to talk again on Julia Skentelbery’s show on BBC Radio Cornwall surrounding the topic of Men’s Mental Health.

I was asked if I’d like to be interviewed after Julia had spoken to representatives from the NHS’s Talking Therapy, alongside Ross Jackson Hicks – one of the founders of the very successful men’s support talking group ‘Man Down’. There was no way I would refuse this invitation, despite feeling very much a small fish in a fairly big pond!
The recording from the interview 🙂
I turned up at the BBC Radio Cornwall studio in good time and Ross and I met, exchanged a few stories on who we are, why we are here, what our experiences are working with men and in groups – and found some common ground. What a lovely man – sincere, grounded and very friendly.
Being on the radio – a second for me!
Despite the fact that I had been on the radio a few months before this slot, I was still a little nervous / excited by the whole affair! There were some interesting questions that Julia posed to the two of us – related to what age brakets of men are seemingly struggling with mental health at the moment; the manosphere and how younger men and youths may relate to that; and of course about the work that we individually do, and how we became engaged with it.
A really great opportunity for me to speak a bit about this topic – men’s mental health and so by association dad’s mental health – and wonderful to engage with and meet others in our community who are doing important work to help make lives better.
